Getting involved

Parents and teachers

Parents are encouraged to have regular contact with their child’s class teacher.  In the morning teachers are available for a chat from 08:50 in the playground before school and again in the afternoon after school.  Appointments can be made at a mutually convenient time with any member of staff, who can be contacted in person or by email using their first name, e.g.

Help us to improve

We regularly ask for feedback and opinions about how we can improve.  At parent teacher evenings, parents are asked to complete a questionnaire about the school.  We value parent feedback and consider this to be one of the most useful ways of gathering ideas and opinion.

Meet the Governors

The school governors have historically hosted a ‘Breakfast’ meeting each term, which all parents are invited to attend.

Parents who are intersted in contributing to the strategic direction of the school should consider becoming an elected parent governor. See the governor pages for more details.

Parents are automatically members of the Parent Staff Association (PSA), which is very active and effective. Many parents attend PSA meetings and help out with fundraising and supporting the school.

Parents’ Coffee Morning

There is a PSA-run parent coffee morning most Thursday from 9-10am in the BBHall.  This is a great opportunity to meet other parents in the school.  A member of staff such as Sharon, the Learning Mentor, usually attends.  Sharon's wisdom extends from choosing a secondary school to supporting your child with emotional and health needs.
