Soho Parish Primary

Involving parents

A parent brings salsa to Year 1One of our five core values is Family and at Soho Parish we pride ourselves on being an open community.

We recognise that parents understand their children best, therefore wherever possible we prefer to work with you to help your children make the best possible progress.

This begins before Reception class, where our Early Years team will do a home visit to get to know your child and their family and seek to understand how best to support your child once they start school.

Parents are encouraged to keep in touch with what is going on at school. As well as a regular electronic newsletter, we use the ParentMail app to send information directly to parents' mobiles and tablets.

We try to keep our school as open as possible to parents, whilst maintaining appropriate levels of safeguarding. Every Friday, we encourage parents to bring their children into their classroom at the start of the day, so that they can see what their child has been doing. The class teacher is also on hand to field any questions you may have.

Many of our parents are keen to share some of their talents with the school, and so we regularly invite parents in, either to give demonstration lessons or to volunteer in class in a variety of capacities.

Finally, we have a very active Parent Staff Association (PSA), who run a weekly coffee morning for parents as well as organise fundraising and social activities throughout the year.
