EQUALITY

The Equality Act 2010

Our school is committed to equality both as an employer and a service provider. This is embedded in both our policies and our core values.

Love, Courage, Imagination, Individuality, Community

The Equality Act 2010 requires us to develop objectives and to publish information that demonstrates that we have due regard for the need to:

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimisation and other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act 2010
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.
  • Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.

Our Equality Objectives 2022-23

Objective 1
Staff and children to understand racial equality and all forms of bias. All school practices promote equality through curriculum opportunities, resources, language and understanding.

Objective 2
Include an equality statement on all recruitment adverts and documents, to ensure a diverse range of candidates are encouraged to apply.

School Improvement Priority linked to equality 2022-23

To ensure all pupils are challenged, especially those with SEN and higher attaining pupils.

Further develop EYFS Curriculum, baseline assessment and effective use of additional support to ensure children (particularly disadvantaged, SEND and vulnerable pupils) make substantial progress by the end of the academic year.

Why equality is important to us

Equality for all underpins all of our Soho Parish Values.  It is very important to us that all pupils achieve their potential, regardless of ethnic and social background.  We ensure that our curriculum and texts reflect the beautiful diversity of society and particularly of our vibrant local area.  We carefully monitor each child’s learning to ensure that all are able to access the curriculum and make best possible progress.  This ensures that pupils from all groups and backgrounds receive an individually tailored programme.
